MIOCENE EPOCH |
The Miocene Epoch can be described in 2 words: GRASSES EXPLODED. The evolution of gritty grasses (the leaves are embedded with tiny silica crystals) and gritty grass-eating herbivores created what was basically a forest remover.
Since gritty grasses were so hard to digest, gritty grass-eating herbivores would first eat everything else other than gritty grasses, clearing out entire forests for gritty grasses to colonize. The climate cooled and dried in this epoch.
