PLIOCENE EPOCH |
Grasslands spread to all continents except Antarctica. Cooling set off in the Miocene Epoch led to the creation of Taiga forests and tundra, and the destruction of tropical forests, save a narrow band around the equator. Deciduous forests replaced the tropical forests. The African savannas and the Sahara appeared.
The Pliocene Epoch saw the global climate cool a lot.
